This is StudioMöllan – a recording studio in Malmö – Sweden.
The studio was originaly built and run by Emil Isaksson, Björn Wiking and Tom Malmros. The later
being 2/4:th of the band This is Head left the studio in 2009 to focus on the bands successful debut record.
The winter of 2009/2010 saw a major renovation of the rooms into the state they are today. Larger recording space and and an additional two isolated rooms gives a huge advantage in isolation when recording bands live. This has since become a trademark for StudioMöllan; live recordings with no drawbacks in leakage between instruments. It actually also saves you money as it generally takes way less time to record in this fashion.
The renovation actually never stopped. Every year there’s something happening here. The latest news is an overhaul of the acoustics in the entire studio. Also an additional space next door to the studio has been ear marked for an later expansion. Over the years the gear collection has steadily grown. There’s now a huge collection of microphones, compressors, tape recorders, equalizers, reverbs, delays to choose from.
Analog and digital recording are both available. Both being state of the art; 2″ 24track + 1/2″ stereo for tape recording. 56in 64out Pro Tools HDX digital system. The DIY trend of pro audio gear has not gone unnoticed. There’s a lot of gear thats actually have been manufactured in house. A fun recreation for us working here and a unique touch sound wise. A creative home away from home in the center of Möllan the culture center of malmö. Off street parking is available and housing can be arranged for longer sessions. There’s also plenty talented musicians tied to the studio. A full band can be arranged at very reasonable fees.
